Academic Resource
The Academic Resource Room is an alternative setting available to all students with an Individual Education Plan – IEP. It is available all four periods of the school day and is staffed with a qualified Special Education Resource Teacher.
Students can access the resource room to:

-
work independently on assignments or homework;
-
complete culminating performance tasks (CPTs);
-
complete tests and/or exam reviews;
-
write quizzes, tests or exams;
-
consult with resource teachers; or
-
seek additional assistance and support.
All students with an IEP are assigned a resource teacher who monitors the students’ progress and helps to provide accommodations and supports to meet the students’ needs.
The resource teacher creates, develops and maintains the students’ IEP, attends meetings to address students’ needs (e.g. school team, IPRCs, transition meetings, case conferences), collaborates with school team members and other support staff to support the provision of accommodations, and to facilitate communication between student, teachers, administration, guidance, support staff and parents.
